Training & Support

Communication Difficulties

Speech and language therapy can support adults experiencing changes to communication following neurological illness or injury. This may include difficulties with speaking, understanding language, word finding, reading and writing, or social communication.

Support may be helpful for individuals experiencing:

  • Aphasia

  • Dysarthria

  • Apraxia of speech

  • Cognitive communication difficulties

Swallowing Difficulties

Swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) can occur following stroke, brain injury, or as part of some neurological conditions. Talking Point Speech and Language Therapy can assess swallowing and provide guidance to help people eat and drink more safely and comfortably.

  • Advice on food and drink textures

Training and Support

Communication and swallowing difficulties often affect the whole family or support network. Training and guidance can be provided for family members, carers, and support teams to help them understand the difficulties and use strategies that support effective communication and safe mealtimes.
